| readings. The first time my car was tested it had a NOx reading of about 280, far under the limit. I failed because my check engine bulb was not lighting. I took it back a few days later and my NOx was close to 400. I made no changes to my Z. I asked the techs at the test-only shop why there was such a large difference and if it was normal. They said that it could be that the second time the car was tested it was a much hotter day (+15 degrees) and that could be the cause. I didn't believe it, but they could not explain further. The other readings were very low and remained consistent on both tests. The test was done during my lunch time on both days and I left it running when I parked it. I drove the same distance at about the same speed and left it running for approximately the same amount of time. Does the smog testing have this much variation? David G
